Gethin Nadin is a globally respected psychologist, author and HR thought leader whose influence has reshaped the way organisations approach employee experience and wellbeing.

Gethin views his Top 100 Influential People award as “a huge honour” and “the culmination of two decades of work” reflecting his wider impact representing the UK on the international stage. He describes how seeing his name alongside people he has admired for years as “genuinely humbling.” It validated years of work influencing policy and improving working lives.

As the CIO of Benifex, a software development company that helps employers support a highly engaged workforce by offering a personalised and interactive benefits and rewards platform, the award win has elevated his profile “beyond the HR industry and opened up new audiences”, discovering his work for the first time. This has naturally reflected positively on Benifex and the work it does.

Winning the award has expanded how Gethin views his role. “It’s made me more conscious of the responsibility that influence brings,” he explains. “It’s prompted me to reflect on how my work can support change at national level as well as within organisations.”

To Gethin, the award stands out due to its breadth. It took his accolades outside the HR sphere and into a much wider national context. “Being recognised among people shaping the country, not just my sector, made it uniquely significant,” Gethin said.

As a result, he would encourage other top achievers to enter or nominate someone: “it’s a rare opportunity to have your impact recognised on a national platform. If someone is making a meaningful difference, this is the place their story deserves to be told.” Going further, “the quality of the Top 100 is also part of why winning is so impactful – those with knighthoods, MBEs and nationally recognised names.”

If there is one message Gethin hopes his story gives to others, it is that “sustained effort over many years can lead to meaningful national impact. Anyone, in any industry, can use their voice to help shape a better country.” Stories “help others understand what’s possible and encourages more people to use their influence for good.”

For anyone who is marginalised or comes from a challenging background, it is “even more important to tell these stories. To show others that hitting the top of your career is achievable for anyone”

The annual Top 100 awards are designed to shine a light on truly influential people who make a positive impact on society.
