Thomas Constant is pioneering entrepreneur in the alternative protein sector for pet food. To create a sustainable, cost-effective solution for pet and livestock owners and to reduce the environmental impact of traditional pet food production, he founded and became CEO of The Bug Factory in 2019.

Thomas invented a home composting kit made of insect-growing pods, known as The Bug Factory, that repurposes waste into both plant fertiliser and pet food. The Bug Factory’s mealworm growing pods are available in the UK, EU and North America.
In 2022, The Bug Factory won a Innovate UK award and a Young Innovators Next Steps Award. The innovative company has been featured on BBC and Channel 4 TV programmes.

From December 2021, Thomas has been a member of the Greentech Alliance, a network of members that work together to create solutions to solve climate change.

Before launching The Bug Factory, Thomas worked as head of design at Heylo Ltd between 2018 and 2020.

He obtained a master’s degree at Aberystywth University in microcredentials, lifestock health and welfare; and a degree in industrial design and technology at Loughborough University.
