Zahra Shah is a leader in responsible AI, generative AI, frontier technology, privacy and technology for good. She has built a career based upon innovation, public service and relentless advocacy for diversity and inclusion in the technology sector.
When Zahra discovered she had been named to the Top 100 for the second time, she said “to be recognised again is both a profound honour and a wonderful surprise.” To Zahra, the recognition of the award “serves as a powerful affirmation” and has strengthened her belief and acted as a “motivation to continue striving and to further my contributions toward positive change within my field.”
Regarding the positive benefits that winning the award has had on Zahra’s business, she states “it has significantly enhanced the credibility of my work and introduced my area of expertise to a much wider and more diverse audience.” Furthermore, “it has led to a notable increase in opportunities, including speaking engagements and requests for media commentary. On a personal level, it has been incredibly reaffirming and has strengthened my resolve to focus on meaningful work.”
Being named in the Top 100 has only increased her sense of responsibility. She says she feels “a greater duty to provide the public with clear, accurate information about AI – particularly its potential harms if used irresponsibly. In an era of widespread misinformation, and with people – especially women and children – being harmed by abuses like intimate deepfakes, this role as a communicator of truth feels more critical than ever.”
The recognition of a Top 100 Award stands out because of its “celebration of impactful individuals across such a wide spectrum of sectors, backgrounds and experiences. It creates a powerful platform for sharing diverse stories of achievement and contribution that the public can learn from.” Zahra wholeheartedly recommends others to enter the Top 100, saying “without hesitation – I would encourage people to nominate those who are demonstrably making a positive impact. This kind of recognition not only validates their efforts but can also propel them to achieve even more.”
Zahra’s message to others seeking inspiration would be to “persist, no matter the challenges, and to never give up on working toward what matters most.”
