He is the brains behind some of the best-known internet brands including LoveFilm, Zoopla and, most recently, car venture Cazoo. Cazoo has transformed the way people buy used cars, offering a seven-day return policy, with cars being picked up if customers aren’t happy. Cazoo sold £10 million-worth of cars in its first week and now employs 262 staff. Previously Alex was the Founder and CEO of ZPG Plc, which owns some of the UK’s most successful digital brands including Zoopla, uSwitch, Prime Location and Money.co.uk and which was acquired for £2.2bn in 2018. Prior to that, Alex co-founded LoveFilm, which was sold to Amazon in 2010. He is also one of the UK’s most active angel investors, having backed dozens of early-stage digital start-ups. He has won numerous awards, including Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2013, he was listed in the Telegraph Tech Hot 100 list in 2020, and in 2017 was named on Debrett’s 500. In 2018, he was awarded an OBE for his services to digital entrepreneurship.
