Beth is an outstanding professional footballer and inspirational role model who was pivotal to the Lionesses winning the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euros – the first major, senior football trophy England had won since the 1966 FIFA World Cup. She excelled at the 2022 Euros, where she won the Golden Boot, for scoring the most goals, was named Player of the Tournament and was the top assist provider. That year she became the first women’s footballer to win the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. At club level, Beth has won numerous awards at Sunderland and now at Arsenal. Aged just 20, she became the youngest winner of the WSL Golden Boot and won the WSL Player of the Year Award. At the time, 2015, she was playing for Sunderland – for whom she scored 77 goals in 78 games and is regarded as one of the greatest players to have ever played for the club. Beth has inspired girls from a young age. Initially the only girl to play football for her primary school team, she went on to captain the team to win the local primary school cup for boys’ teams – with four girls in the team.
