Brian Marcel has grown the IBCS Group from a standing start in November 1988 to the leading barcode and enterprise mobility solutions provider in Central and Eastern Europe. Brian spotted an untapped region in the former Soviet bloc before the Berlin Wall came down and partnered with potential entrepreneurs working in state-run companies. He bought them out, set them up in business with shares, finance and best business practices. Today, the IBCS Group is the No. 1 in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria. As Chairman, Brian is responsible for the survival of the Group, the strategic vision, supplier relationships and overseeing the leadership board to maximise shareholder value. Brian was honoured to be awarded the Richard R. Dilling Award in 2013 in recognition of outstanding contributions that have furthered the growth of the barcode industry through important applications and new technological developments. This is the most prestigious award given by the trade organisation, AIM Global. He also runs two charities: Box Up Crime, which keeps young kids out of gangs, and Global Purpose Enterprise, mentoring young, underserved minorities.
