Graham is a highly-acclaimed, prominent figure in the world of contemporary art and has recently been recognised with the prestigious John Moores Painting Prize with his 2022 painting Light Industry.
The John Moores Painting Prize is widely considered to be the premier award for British painting. Previous winners include renowned artists David Hockney, Peter Doig, Keith Coventry and Rose Wylie.
Winning the John Moores award is a testament to Graham’s perseverance. This was not the first time he had been nominated; in fact, his first entry was in 1976. Almost 50 years later and with his 10th submission, Graham was bestowed with the prize in 2022.
As a result of his victory, Graham has been able to exhibit his work to a wider audience, which as he has explained, is crucial for practising painters, many of whom are not represented by a gallery or commercial interest.
Aside from his John Moores Prize win, Graham’s previous works have been exhibited in some of the world’s most prestigious galleries, and have been selected for the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Art on numerous occasions.
Graham has also tutored and lectured at some of the nation’s most respected art institutions and continues to paint from his family home in Suffolk.
