Helen has made a vital contribution to the climate change crisis by encouraging major brands to influence positive action from other companies and customers, accelerating the transition to clean energy around the world. Helen is CEO of The Climate Group, an international non-profit organisation with a mission to drive climate action. It aims to expand companies’ use of renewable electricity and electrical vehicles. It also established Steel Zero, an initiative to accelerate the steel industry’s transition to net zero carbon emissions. Under Helens’s leadership, the Climate Group has overseen the recent opening of their office in Beijing. Helen also sits on the board of the We Mean Business Coalition and the advisory board for the Global Climate Action Summit. Before joining The Climate Group, Helen worked at?Forum for the Future?where she set up their US office and led work with large US corporations such as Walmart, Nike, Gap, and Levi Strauss to solve complex sustainability challenges. Previously, she worked for Médecins Sans?Frontières?on humanitarian missions in countries including Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Pakistan and Nigeria.? Helen was awarded an OBE in June 2022 for services to tackling climate change and supporting the UK Presidency of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26).
