Henry is driven by a passion to plant and protect forests that can store carbon for a natural lifetime of up to 3500 years. He has set a goal to plant thousands of Giant Sequoias in a network of forests in the UK and is tenacious in seeing this innovative and important project – known as The Great Reserve – through to completion.
The plan began when he planted Giant Sequoias for his two young children with the intention of starting their journey to a carbon neutral life as early as possible.
Henry’s concern over the global climate crisis and the scale of the action needed prompted him to take this action to a new level by creating the chance for others, including companies, to plant Sequoia trees and become part of the solution rather than the problem.
Giant Sequoias, also known as Giant Redwoods, are the planet’s largest and most powerful carbon capture trees and can store that carbon for a natural lifetime of up to 3500 years. They are also an endangered species, with only 75,000 remaining in North America today and diminishing by up to 10% per annum due to the impacts of climate change.
Henry’s team has created The Great Reserve, a safe haven for the future of the species and is on course to plant 100,000 Giant Sequoias in the UK, to see them thrive for generations to come.
