Joe Calder OStJ has broken the mould as a philanthropist, charity fund-raiser and leading tech innovator in Silicon Valley with strong links to Britain. Running alongside his stellar career at the forefront of technological innovation for some of the world’s biggest tech companies is his deep commitment to philanthropy and giving back to society. Joe’s charity and philanthropic interests range from conservation, the arts, health, science and technology, heritage and encouraging entrepreneurship. Much of his philanthropy is focused on Britain with which he has a strong affinity and many close connections, both in charity and business. A graduate of the MBA programme at Cambridge University, he sits on the advisory board of the University of California, and he is a top-level patron of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and the conservation charity Tusk. Specifically, Joe is Patron of the BAFTA Chair’s Circle, focused on philanthropy and strategic planning. He is a passionate advocate and fund-raiser for Tusk, focused on wildlife conservation in Africa. As a Tusk Patron, he is part of the Tusk Patrons’ Circle. Over the last few years, he and his family have attended Tusk events in Aspen, The Hamptons, and London, and he brought a major Tusk fund-raising event to the San Francisco Bay Area.
