Kate is an Independent Modern Slavery Consultant, Researcher and Advisor working with legal teams, international and national charities, and universities to strengthen support for survivors of slavery and trafficking. Most recently, she collaborated with the Human Trafficking Foundation and sector partners to re-write the Trafficking and Slavery Care Standards. As a Senior Research Fellow with the Rights Lab, Kate focused on survivor support and policy reform. She published reports with the Office of the Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner and worked with sector partners to provide data and evidence on the impact of the Nationality and Borders Act on survivors. Kate became a published author in 2021 with Unseen Lives: The Hidden World of Modern Slavery, which exposes the realities of modern slavery through stories and insights from her frontline work. Prior to this, Kate founded and served as a Director of Unseen, a charity working towards a world without slavery. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, she shaped strategy, led service development, and ensured survivor and frontline practitioner voices were central to the organisation’s approach. Kate currently serves as a Director for the Sir Halley Stewart Trust and Liberate UK.
