Mark Huxley FRSA has just completed a year-long role leading the City livery company for entrepreneurs and has made social mobility key to his mission. The City of London has been his backyard for 50 years and he was honoured to serve as Master of the Company of Entrepreneurs from November 2023 to November 2024. His speciality is insurance, but his influence goes far wider.
He spent his formative years inside the Lloyd’s insurance community. He left gainful employment in the late 1990s and set up a pioneering “dotcom” insurance services business, which fast grew to become a nationally recognised brand in the sector. An innovator at heart, this has continued long since with him creating many other pioneering businesses, including helping to co-found Wrisk, one of the first operators in the insurtech sector.
With both the Company of Entrepreneurs and the City Gateway initiative he has worked pro bono to make the City stronger and more agile, innovating to support the UK economy, opening up the Square Mile to disadvantaged young people who only need a chance, and leading the way on equality, diversity and inclusivity. He also lectures on entrepreneurship and leadership to university students, advises start-ups and shares his expertise with the next generation of entrepreneurs, setting strong foundations for the UK’s future prosperity.
