Mark is a brilliant insolvency KC and has been described as probably the most senior barrister working in that field. He has handled vastly complex cross-border restructuring and insolvency cases. During the COVID period, Mark was the driving force in Back to Business which has helped over 250,000 small businesses world-wide navigate recovery from the financial shock caused by the pandemic. Mark leads on the most high-profile cases in the sporting world. He was instrumental in the foundation of the Premier League, represented UEFA’s financial breach prosecution of Manchester City, which resulted in their being banned from the Champions League for two years. Mark is a Trustee of the Twinning Project, which pairs football clubs with their local prison to deliver coaching and refereeing courses. He drew up the constitution of the charity pro bono. He founded The Debbie Phillips Cervical Cancer Research Fund (“Debbie Fund”). It is the only organisation devoted to the discovery of new treatments for cervical cancer. Mark raised over £1.7m to fund research which looks promising for an MRNA-based treatment proven to be effective not only against cervical cancer but also other cancers.
