Nik Storonsky is a British-based billionaire who co-founded Revolut in 2015 to transform the way people spend and transfer money abroad. He is now the company’s CEO and has proved that he is truly a disrupter in his field. Such is the success of Revolut that, according to Forbes, the company was worth $13.8 billion in January 2023.
Revolut offers everything from currency exchange and surcharge-free ATMs to global transfer payments and budgeting. It is one of Europe’s top unicorns and has handled countless transactions for more than 35 million customers in over 150 countries and regions.
Nik started off his career trading derivatives at Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse in which he traded over $2bn across various options, swaps, and FX instruments. This gave him an unparalleled grounding in how to compete successfully in a highly competitive marketplace.
Nik wants Revolut to be the “Amazon of banking” and he works tirelessly in pursuit of this ambition.
He is Russian by birth and holds an M.S. in Applied Physics and Mathematics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and an MA in Economics from the New Economic School in Moscow. He renounced his Russian citizenship in 2022, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
