Paul Christensen has been a world-class tech entrepreneur for 25 years, leading national and international initiatives with large groups to solve complex problems. He is the co-founder of Previse, an AI fintech bringing smarter, data-driven finance to millions of small businesses, easing the financial and human costs of late payments and driving the economy. He also founded the social movement Good Business Pays to bring the issue of unfair slow and late payments for the UK’s SMEs to the top of the national agenda, encouraging a business and community campaign for change. He brought together the Federation of Small Business, representing small businesses, and the CBI, representing big businesses, then added leading UK business groups, including Make UK, the British Chambers of Commerce, the Institute of Directors and the Creative Industries Federation. Using the power of technology to get SMEs paid faster, his secret was to introduce transparency to incentivise good behaviour from FTSE250 companies – rather than calling out those known to be late payers, he launched awards for fast payers, encouraging others to follow suit (accrediting some 300 every year), helping small businesses flourish and boosting the UK economy.
