Professor Andrew R. Barron, FRSC, CChem, PhD, DIC, BSc, ARCS Professor Andrew R. Barron is a world-renowned academic and entrepreneur with expertise in nanotechnology, decarbonisation, renewable energy and artificial intelligence (AI). He is the chair of the Sêr Cymru programme in Wales that researches low carbon energy, and the founder and director of the Energy Safety Research Institute at Swansea University where his research focuses on carbon capture and protecting the environment. Additionally, Professor Barron holds many board-level executive roles in public and private companies, multinationals, academia and government institutions. He has founded and grown multiple AI and technology start-ups. Educated at Imperial College, London, from the mid-1980s Professor Barron conducted post-doctoral research at the University of Texas in Austin, USA, and later served as a chemistry professor at Harvard University for eight years. From 1995 he became the Welch Chair of Chemistry and Professor of Materials Science and Nanoengineering at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Professor Barron has authored more than 550 publications and 25 books, and submitted more than 55 patents.
