Rob is a respected social care leader with more than 35 years of impact from frontline practice to national governance. He began as a care worker, qualified as a social worker, and has consistently put people’s voices at the centre of how support is designed and delivered. As Managing Director of Care is Central, the Local Authority Trading Company for Central Bedfordshire, Rob is proving that publicly owned providers can deliver high-quality, sustainable services. He led the opening of Marigold House, a £13 million, energy-efficient care home and community hub in Leighton Buzzard and Red Kite Meadows Care Village in Flitwick, following a £54 million council investment.
Nationally, Rob has shaped adult safeguarding, developing pan-regional policies and practical improvement support. He has served as the independent Chair of Safeguarding Adults Boards in Cheshire East, Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth, and coordinated the National Network for Chairs of Safeguarding Adults Boards. He is Chair of POhWER, one of the UK’s largest advocacy charities and brought regulatory leadership to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as the Senior Council Member. Rob’s work has been recognised through the Social Worker of the Year Awards and the Great British Care Awards. He writes regularly for sector outlets and contributes to national media on dignity, rights and professional standards.
