Originally from Greece, Sokratis started his career at Vodafone Group and came to the UK in 1997 to study electronic engineering in York.
Five years ago he founded Numan – a men’s health company which has helped over 430,000 men with their health and well-being across a range of conditions. It’s his third business having spent the last 17 years being a founder, entrepreneur, and occasional angel investor.
Before Numan, he founded one of the earliest social sharing sites, TrustedPlaces, which focused on local discovery and local content. The company provided user-generated reviews for restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs – and later added ratings on everything from sports and leisure clubs to shops and hotels.
He led the company for five years, grew it to be profitable and one of the leading brands in local search in the UK. He sold out to the Yell Group in 2010.
Numan raised over £61.2m in funding and ha a team of over 150 people. The company came about after Sokratis’ own venture into personal health and offers personalised, integrated care in one digital platform. It gives men direct access to medical professionals, pharmaceutical products and the knowledge so they can make informed decisions about their health.
