Young transgender actress Yasmin is best known for her role as Elle Argent in the Netflix series Heartstopper, for which she won a Rose d’Or Award for Supporting Talent, Soho House’s Breakthrough Actress Award, was named On-screen Trailblazer by Gay Times, and was nominated for a Children’s and Family Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance.
Brought up on a council estate in Manchester by her single mother, for a short period Yasmin and her mum were homeless. However, she worked hard in pursuit of her dreams and in
2021 made it onto American campaigning organisation GLAAD’s annual 20 Under 20 list, which recognises young LGBTQ influencers, talent and advocates who are under 20 and shaping the future of the entertainment industry, social media and beyond to accelerate acceptance for the LGBTQ community.
Yasmin starred as the character Charlie Acaster in the recent short film Mars, which premiered to much acclaim at the 2022 London Film Festival.
She is set to join the cast of Doctor Who as Rose Noble, the daughter of Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), who, like Finney, is set to be transgender.
Yasmin will appear as a guest judge during the fifth series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
